I wake abruptly and shoot up in my bed, I clutch at my heart and began try catch my breath.
"It was just a dream, it was just a dream, it was just a dream!" I try to convince myself, I keep my hand over my heart and keep breathing at pace. I can feel a single drop of sweat slither from my neck all the way down my back, it is such an odd sensation.
I prop myself up against the head board and lean over the to the left bedside cabinet to turn on the lamp, the sudden change in light constricts my pupils so they could adjust to the change.
I blink a few times and shield my eyes with my hand, then I sit on the side of my bed, clear my throat and cough into my palm.
I gaze over to the window and watch as the rain hammers against it, before I   grumble and stand up.
I do all of my morning rituals and fix my tie to my neck and leave my apartment without a word.
I walk downstairs and look around the empty reception as I am about to leave, I push the front door open and head outside into the rain, its almost calming listening to the hurricane of water splat down on the pavement all around me.
I wander away from the neon sign outside and advance back to the diner where I came from, it doesn't take me long, I have made this trip plenty of times.
A few moments pass and before I know it I am frantically trying to squeeze into the diner.
I let out a heaving, melancholic sigh before sitting down in my usual spot, drinking coffee.

I can picture the scene really well, nice use of imagery!
